1. Before you start
Cash Deck Lite is a point of sale for Windows 10/11. Your sales, products and customers are saved on your own computer and it works without internet.
| Edition | Price (one time) | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 PC | $49.99 | One register. |
| Multi-register | $79.99 | 1 main register + up to 3 additional (secondary) registers = up to 4 registers. |
Every new copy includes a 7-day free trial with all the features. Your data is kept when you activate.
2. Install the program
- Download the installer from the Downloads page and run it.
- If Chrome, Windows or Avast shows a warning, it is a false positive (the program is new). See Support for the exact steps.
- When it finishes, open Cash Deck Lite from the Start menu.
3. First start on your main PC
- Choose your language (English or Spanish) at the top right of the first screen.
- The program asks What type of register is this PC?. If you have only one PC, or this is the first PC of the store, choose MAIN REGISTER. (For additional PCs see section 10.)
- On the login screen sign in as MANAGER with the initial PIN 000000.
- The Evaluation & Activation window opens. Under Select edition to evaluate choose 1 PC · $49.99 or Up to 4 registers · $79.99, then press Start Evaluation. (If you already bought your license, press Activate or Buy Now and see section 11.)
- Create your own 6-digit PIN when asked (Create your 6-digit PIN). The initial PIN 000000 is public, so do not keep it.
4. Set up your store
On the dashboard open the STORE card (Name, phone, address). The Setup screen has these tabs:
- GENERAL – general options.
- BUSINESS – business name, address, phone and logo (they appear on the receipt and on the login screen).
- SALES TAX – your sales tax rate.
- RECEIPT – how the printed receipt looks.
- REPORTING – report options.
- DATA SOURCE – where the data comes from.
- REGISTERS – connect more registers (section 10).
Printer and cash drawer: in the POS press Printer / Drawer. This setup belongs to each PC: every register uses its own printer and its own drawer. No Sale (Open drawer) opens the drawer without making a sale.
5. Users and permissions
Open the USERS card (Users & permissions). Create one user for each employee, each with their own PIN, and choose what each person can do: sell, manage inventory, buy, see reports, make refunds, edit time clock hours. Sensitive actions ask for a manager PIN.
6. Opening and closing the register
- Open the POS. If the register is closed, the OPEN REGISTER window asks for the opening cash: count the cash you start the shift with, type it and press OPEN REGISTER.
- During the shift use Register Expenses for money taken out of the drawer.
- At the end of the shift press Close Register. It shows the opening amount, sales by cash, card and credit, the expenses and the total that should be in the drawer.
7. Selling
- Add products: scan the barcode, search by name or tap them.
- Check the total. Sales tax is calculated for you.
- In the payment panel choose how the customer pays. For cash type the CASH RECEIVED and the change is shown.
- Press CHARGE AND PRINT (prints the receipt) or CHARGE AND SAVE (no receipt).
Side buttons and shortcuts

8. The dashboard
- POS – invoicing and register.

9. Time clock
Employees record their hours with their own PIN: from the login screen (Time clock), from the Clock button of the POS, or from the CLOCK card of the dashboard.
- CLOCK IN and CLOCK OUT – start and end of the shift.
- START BREAK and END BREAK – breaks are not counted as worked time.
- View team hours (on the main PC) shows Employee hours. A manager can correct a record, for example when someone forgot to clock out (Edit time clock hours asks for a manager PIN).
To make clocking in mandatory, turn on the option Require clocking in before opening the register in the store options.
10. Main register and secondary registers
With the multi-register license you can sell from up to 4 PCs: one main register and up to 3 secondary (additional) registers. All the data lives on the main PC. The secondary registers connect to it through your local network (Wi-Fi or cable) and sell with the same products, customers, taxes and users. You do not need internet.
| Main register | Secondary register | |
|---|---|---|
| Stores the data | Yes (the only copy) | No, it uses the main PC |
| Needs the license | Yes | No |
| Must be on | Always, with Cash Deck open | Only while it sells |
| Administration (inventory, users, store setup) | Yes | Done on the main PC |
| Printer and drawer | Its own | Its own |
A. Set up the main register
- On the first PC choose MAIN REGISTER at the first start (section 3). If the PC already works alone, go to STORE → Setup → REGISTERS and press MAKE THIS PC THE MAIN PC.
- In the REGISTERS tab check that the server is on (MAIN PC (SERVER)). If it is off, press TURN ON. The tab shows Registers: x of y and the addresses of this PC.
- Press GENERATE CODE. You get a PAIRING CODE of 6 digits. It works once and expires in 1 hour; press NEW CODE for another one.
- Keep this PC on, with Cash Deck open, while the other registers sell.
B. Connect a secondary register
- Install Cash Deck Lite on the other PC (same installer). Connect it to the same network as the main PC.
- At the first start choose SECONDARY REGISTER. (If the program was already used on that PC, go to STORE → Setup → REGISTERS and press JOIN AS ADDITIONAL REGISTER; that PC will stop using its own database.)
- The Join as additional register window lists the SERVERS ON THE NETWORK. Select your main PC. If it does not appear, press Search or type its IP address in Or type the main PC IP (the IP is shown in the main PC's REGISTERS tab).
- Type the Pairing code that the main PC shows and a Name of this register (for example “Front counter”). Press JOIN.
- The register opens with the products, customers, taxes and users of the main PC. Sign in with a user PIN and sell. There is nothing to activate.
C. Daily use
- The top bar of a secondary register shows a connection indicator: Connected to the main PC or No connection with the main PC.
- If the main PC is off, restarted or changes its address (for example after a power outage), the secondary register covers the screen with “No connection”, keeps your sale on screen and reconnects by itself.
- After one minute without connection the Find the main PC window opens by itself: pick the main PC from the list or type its IP. When the connection returns a green Reconnected to the main PC notice appears and the login list reloads.
- A secondary register can take part in the store only while the main PC is on.
D. Manage the registers (on the main PC)
- CONNECTED REGISTERS lists every register with its last connection. Use Rename to change its name.
- Revoke removes a register: it can no longer connect (it can pair again with a new code).
- TURN OFF THE SERVER stops all the secondary registers until you turn it on again.
- On a secondary PC, STOP BEING AN ADDITIONAL REGISTER returns it to work alone with its own database.
E. Limits
- 1 PC license: no additional registers (“Your license is for 1 PC: to add registers you need the multi-PC license”).
- Multi-register license: 3 additional registers (Registers: x of 3).
- During the trial the limit follows the edition you chose in Start Evaluation.
F. If a secondary register cannot connect
- Is the main PC on, with Cash Deck open and the server on (REGISTERS tab)?
- Are both PCs on the same network (same router)?
- Press FIND THE MAIN PC and select it, or type the IP shown on the main PC.
- Check the Windows Firewall ports (see the note in A).
